Most people want to have that special dress, but realise that it costs a fortune for one that you will only wear once. Here are three options which I have known people do to get a free or less expensive dress.

Low Cost
Oxfam have wedding dress departments and so it is possible to buy a low cost dress and change someone’s life in the developing world.
You can also scour ebay where many dresses are available at good prices.
I know one bride who found the dress of her dreams. She realised that it was also on sale in America and so she ordered it from there. At the time the exchange rate was so good that even allowing for having to pay import duty she had saved nearly half the cost of a great dress. She looked fabulous on the day.

Free
Most people keep their wedding dress. They are delighted to lend it to someone who is getting married, but can’t afford to buy or hire one. If you have facebook friends then ask them to ask their facebook friends. Admit your size and height.
If you take this option be careful. It would be heartbreaking to have lent your wedding dress and receive it back spoilt with tears and spills.
